What qualifications are required to become a mobile crane operator?

What are the skills required to become a mobile crane operator?

1. Knowledge of the principles and operation of mobile cranes.

2. Ability to operate a crane safely and efficiently, both under normal conditions and in emergency situations.

3. Strong work ethic and attention to detail; able to stay focused while working on multiple tasks simultaneously or during high-stress periods.

4. Capable of reading blueprints or drawings representations of structures being lifted or moved, in order to visualize the task at hand before initiating movement/operation on the crane truck/boom arm(s).

5.. Possess certification as a Journeyman Mobile Crane Operator from one of several nationally recognized organizations (such as The National Association Of Tower Erectors [NATE], American Society Of Civil Engineers [ASCE], etc.).
