What is a Pipe Fitter?

A pipe fitter is a tradesperson who installs and repairs pipes and other plumbing systems. They may work on public or private infrastructure, such as homes or businesses. Pipefitters typically have a degree in engineering or another related field, and are skilled in using various tools and equipment to repair damaged pipelines.

What qualifications are required to become a Pipe Fitter?

1. A Pipe Fitter must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be able to read, write, and understand English well enough to take the welding safety test required by many employers.

2. Pipefitters need hands-on experience installing piping systems in order to qualify for most positions. They often spend time as apprentices learning their trade from more experienced pipefitters before being promoted to Journeyman status or becoming certified professionals themselves.

3. Certification is not always necessary but it can offer job security and better paychecks for qualified pipefitters; some common certification levels include Certified Installer (CI), MasterInstaller (MI), Mechanical Inspector (ME), Welder Instructor (WI) etc….

4: One of the key skills that pipefitters need is strength – they work with heavy equipment all day long! – so certifications like The Strength Training Institute’s CPT level 1A are beneficial since they teach how to use proper lifting techniques when working with these machines…and don’t forget those big muscles on their arms!! 🙂

5: Most jobs require good hand-eye coordination because fitting pipes into tight spaces means having very fine control over your tools while welders are cutting plastic tubes around them
