A plumber is a tradesperson who specializes in fixing plumbing problems. They may work on residential or commercial property, and can fix any type of plumbing issue. A plumber typically has certification from the National Board of Plumbing Examiners (NBPES), which means they have learned how to do their job properly and safely.
A person must have a high school diploma or equivalent, be 18 years of age or older, and pass the National Plumbing Examination. Also, many plumbers require certification from organizations such as The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) or American Board of Professional Engineers in Plumbing.
