What is a Pump Mechanic?

A Pump Mechanic is a person who repairs, maintains, or operates pumps and other water-based machinery. They may work in factories, construction sites, hospitals, or public facilities.

What qualifications are required to become a Pump Mechanic?

1. The ideal Pump Mechanic would have experience in the pumping and refrigeration industry, as well as an understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics.

2. In order to be a successful Pump Mechanic, a degree in engineering or mechanical science is usually required.

3. A certification such as Pumps & Systems Technology from ABP (American Board of Professional Engineers) is generally preferred by employers.

4. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and other computer programs is also beneficial due to the math involved in pump operation; many companies now require candidates to pass standardized tests before being hired on as Pump Mechanics/ technicians . 5 . Generally speaking, good communication skills are essential for working within a team environment - especially when troubleshooting malfunctioning pumps
