What is a Registered Nurse?

A Registered Nurse is a healthcare professional who has completed an accredited nursing program and passed the National Council Licensure Examination for Nursing (NCLEX-RN). They have additional certification or licensure in specialty areas, such as pediatrics, geriatric care, mental health/substance abuse, or cardiac care. Registered Nurses are responsible for providing comprehensive patient care through assessment and diagnosis; planning and carrying out individualized treatments plans; monitoring patients' progress toward goals; ensuring quality of life by advocating on their behalf; and participating in research to improve thequalityofpatientcare.

What qualifications are required to become a Registered Nurse?

1. A minimum of a bachelor's degree in nursing is required, with an emphasis on clinical practice and experience.

2. RNs must be licensed by the state in which they work and pass a national board examination as well as demonstrate continuing education requirements to maintain their license.

3. Registered nurses typically have 3 years of specialized training after completing their bachelors degree before being eligible for professional licensure exam preparation programs offered by hospitals or other healthcare organizations.

4. In order to provide quality patient care, registered nurses are often expected to possess strong leadership skills and instill trust within patients' communities; some may also require additional certification such as cardiac nurse practitioner (CNP) or pediatric advanced life support (PALS).

5. Additional qualifications that can be helpful include excellent written communication skills, knowledge of computer systems, acute-care experience working directly with patients both during daytime hours and overnight shifts, ability to collaborate effectively with others in a team setting, etc
