What is a Residential Plumber?

A residential plumber is a professional who specializes in plumbing repairs and installations within the home. They will typically work with homeowners to diagnose any problems related to their plumbing system, before providing recommended solutions. Residential plumbers are also skilled in performing preventative maintenance on pipes and fixtures, as well as helping residents fix leaks when they do occur.

What qualifications are required to become a Residential Plumber?

1. Education in plumbing and water treatment is a must.

2. Experience working with plumbers, drainage systems, gas lines and other related infrastructure is desirable but not required.

3. Certification from the National Association of Plumbing & Mechanical Officials (NAPMO) or American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) may be necessary for some positions.

4. A license to practice plumbingry may also be required depending on the state in which you reside

What are the skills required to become a Residential Plumber?

1. Ability to read and understand plumbing diagrams

2. Knowledge of pipe sizes and types

3. Experience in installing, repairing, or replacing water pipes, drainage systems, heating/cooling systems, etc.

4. Strong mechanical skills (familiarity with tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers)
