What is a Stainless Steel Fabricator?

A stainless steel fabricator is someone who manufactures or produces metal goods from Stainless Steel. They may also work with other types of metals and create products that are corrosion-resistant, strong, lightweight and easy to clean. Fabricators use a variety of machines to shape the raw materials into finished objects. Some common fabrication processes include: cutting, stamping, welding, polishing and galvanizing.

What qualifications are required to become a Stainless Steel Fabricator?

1. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

2. Minimum of 2 years welding experience required, either as an apprentice or in a related trade such as machine shop work.

3 Experience with metal fabricating machines and tooling desirable but not mandatory (i.e., MIG/TIG welders can become stainless steel fabricators).

4 Ability to read and understand blueprints and drawings is essential for most positions; some positions may also require knowledge of ASTM Standards specifications relating to fabrication methodsologies (this will vary by position). Some basic math skills are helpful too!

5 Good problem solving abilities are key - this includes the ability to analyze situations, identify problems, develop solutions, test those solutions if necessary, then follow up on results
