What is a Steel Fabricator?

A steel fabricator is someone who makes metal products, such as parts for cars or airplanes. They use a variety of machines to cut and shape metals into the desired form.

What qualifications are required to become a Steel Fabricator?

1. A background in engineering or a related field is required, as is experience fabricating metal objects.

2. Knowledge of welding and cutting Techniques are important, as well as the ability to read blueprints and understand specifications.

3. Must be able to work independently with little supervision; must also have good problem solving skills and attention to detail.

4. Basic knowledge of tools such as saws, drills, punches and hammers is helpful but not mandatory; steelworker’s clothes/safety gear including eye protection & heavy gloves will typically be provided by the company they work for (these vary depending on location).

What are the skills required to become a Steel Fabricator?

1. Knowledge of metalworking and welding principles

2. Skill in using computer-aided design (CAD) software to create blueprints or models of parts before they are manufactured

3. Experience fabricating large, heavy objects from steel plates, rods, angles and other materials

4. Strong mechanical skills and the ability to work with hand tools as well as power tools
