What is a Textile Design Engineer?

A textile design engineer is responsible for the development of textiles and related products, including apparel, home furnishings and accessories. They may also work on projects that improve the efficiency or quality of existing fabrics. A textile design engineer typically has a degree in engineering or another technical field, along with experience working with fabric materials and manufacturing processes. Some common duties include developing specifications for new fabrics; conducting testing to ensure product performance meets expectations; drafting patterns; creating production drawings; and supervising team members during garment assembly/seaming operations.

What qualifications are required to become a Textile Design Engineer?

1. A degree in textile engineering is required, but a focus on design or product development may be beneficial.
