A textile salesman is someone who sells textiles, which are materials made from yarns and fabrics. Textile salesmen may sell cloth in stores or online, as well as sewing supplies and Patterns. A textile salesman typically has a college degree in marketing or related field, knowledge of fabric types and construction techniques, excellent customer service skills, strong selling ability and the ability to work independently.
1. A diploma or degree in apparel, textiles, or fashion design is required.
2. Experience working with fabrics and sewing techniques is a must.
3. Excellent customer service skills are essential as customers can be critical of salesmen's workmanship.
4. Strong communication abilities are necessary to effectively communicate with buyers and clients about product options and pricing/coupons etc..
5. Must have good organizational skills to keep track of multiple orders from different buyers
The skills required to become a textile salesman vary depending on the type of salesperson. However, most generally require excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as knowledge about fabrics and fashion trends. Additionally, many textile salesmen need fluency in at least one foreign language - often French or Spanish - due to the international nature of their work.
