What is a Tig & Arc Welder?

A Tig & Arc Welder is a welding machine that uses a tig (tungsten inert gas) and arc (arc welder) electrode to weld metal. The machine has two electrodes, one on the arm of the welder and another in the work area. When power is applied to these electrodes, an electric current flows through them and creates heat, which melts the metal near the tips of both electrodes. This molten material then flows down into either side of the welding rod where it solidifies creating a strong joint between pieces of metal

What qualifications are required to become a Tig & Arc Welder?

1. A minimum of two years welding experience is required to be a Tig & Arc Welder.

2. Ability to read blueprints and work with basic math is necessary for the job.

3. Must have good eyesight and excellent hand-eye coordination in order to properly weld metal pieces together using TIG or arc welding techniques.

4. Familiarity with common welding equipment, such as MIG welder, gas masks, wire cutters etc., is also needed prior to applying for the position of Tig & Arc Welder apprentice/worker/ technician .

5. Experience working in an industrial setting (a factory) will be greatly appreciated by employers

What are the skills required to become a Tig & Arc Welder?

1. Must be able to read and understand blueprints and welding procedures.

2. Must have a good sense of touch, feel for heat, use hammers and other tools correctly, work safely with hazardous materials.

3. Must be experienced in using MIG welder machines or TIG welders - must know how to set up the equipment properly including gas settings & shielding levels (if using).

4. Familiarity with arc Welding techniques such as Tapping & Fusing is also helpful - many Tig/Arc Welder jobs require some degree of skill in this area!
