What is a Tig Welder?

Tig welding is a process where two pieces of metal are joined by Tig, or tungsten electrode, through electric arcs. This creates an extremely strong and durable joint that can last for years under normal use.

What qualifications are required to become a Tig Welder?

1. A valid welding certification is required

2. Experience in Tig Welder usage is desirable

3. Must be able to read, follow instructions and work safely as a team member

4. Strong physical stamina and agility are necessary due to the intense heat generated by tig welders

5. Good communication skills are essential for working with others in a manufacturing setting

What are the skills required to become a Tig Welder?

1. Dexterity and manual dexterity in welding with both hand held and power welder

2. Knowledge of safe weld procedures, including stick-and-snag avoidance

3. Ability to read blueprints or other schematics for equipment construction

4. Experience using a TIG torch (torch ionization device)

5. Basic understanding of arc theory
