What is a Tiles Mason?

A tiles mason is an individual who specializes in the installation and repair of ceramic, porcelain tile, mosaics and stone flooring. They typically work with a variety of materials including but not limited to: grout, mortar, adhesive and sealant.

What qualifications are required to become a Tiles Mason?

1. Experience as a mason is required

2. Ability to read and understand blueprints is important

3. Must be able to work independently, as well as in a team setting

4. Strong mathematical skills are necessary for some aspects of the trade

5. Some experience with computers and software used in the construction industry may also be beneficial

What are the skills required to become a Tiles Mason?

A tilesmith needs good hand-eye coordination, precision and strength. They need to be able to cut tile shapes with a circular saw or jigsaw accurately and quickly. It is also important for masons to have working knowledge of how mortar joints work, as well as being skilled in using trowels, chisels and hammers when installing or repairing flooring surfaces.
