What is a Bartender?

A bartender is someone who prepares and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to customers in a bar or restaurant. They may also serve food, provide entertainment, handle cash transactions, and maintain the cleanliness of the premises. Bartenders typically wear uniforms such as slacks or skirts above the knee with a T-shirt underneath.

What qualifications are required to become a Bartender?

1. A basic knowledge of wine and cocktails is helpful, but not required.

2. Some bartending experience is preferred, although a degree in hospitality or cocktail management is not necessary to start working as a bartender.

3. Physical stamina and the ability to work quickly are essential qualities for a successful bartender - many bars require shifts that can last up to 12 hours at a time!

4. Good customer service skills are also important, since bartenders often have interaction with guests both during happy hour and later in the night when drinks are being served by the bottle or on the menu item itself (ie: martinis).

5. Bartenders must be able to multi-task effectively - they need good organizational abilities as well as attention to detail when it comes time preparing drink recipes or making inventory changes on bar shelves
