What is a Block Mason?

A block mason is a type of builder who specializes in constructing walls and other structures out of stone blocks.

What qualifications are required to become a Block Mason?

1. A minimum of two years experience in masonry is required to become a Block Mason.

2. Ability to read and write English is essential, as are good manual skills such as hand sawing and chopping wood.

3. Knowledge of basic principles of geometry is also helpful, as blocks are generally designed using standard dimensions that must be accurately reproduced when assembling the unit.

4. Experience working with mortar and other building materials is desirable but not necessary for success on the job site; training can be provided by an experienced block mason or through self-study programs available online or at brick & mortar bookstores."
