A Heavy Equipment Mechanic is someone who maintains and repairs heavy equipment. They may also be responsible for safety inspections, training employees on how to operate the equipment, and managing inventory. A Heavy Equipment Mechanic typically has a college degree in engineering or related field and several years of experience working with heavy machinery.
A person who wants to become a heavy equipment mechanic must have at least an associate's degree in engineering or technology. They also need experience working with heavy machinery, knowledge of safety procedures for working with heavy equipment, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
