A Heavy Equipment Mechanic is a technician who repairs and maintains large machines, such as bulldozers and backhoes. They may also be responsible for maintaining equipment in the field.
The qualifications that are generally required to become a Heavy Equipment Mechanic include an associates degree or equivalent in mechanics, four years of apprenticeship experience, and certification from the National Board of Examiners for Engineering and Technology (NBEET).
