A Heavy Equipment Mechanic is a person who repairs and maintains heavy equipment. They may work on construction sites, mines, or other industrial settings. AHeavy Equipment Mechanic typically has an associates degree in engineering or technical fields. They must have strong mechanical skills as well as knowledge of how to operate the machinery they are working on.
1. A high school diploma or equivalent is required
2. Minimum of 2 years experience working with heavy equipment and know how to operate it safely
3. Must be able to read, write, and understand basic math concepts
4. Familiarity with computers and software needed for mechanic work
5. Ability to lift at least 75 pounds
1. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings of heavy equipment 2. Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic systems used on heavy equipment 3.
