What is a HVAC Technician?

A HVAC technician installs, maintains and repairs heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in residential, commercial or institutional buildings. They may also be responsible for emergency response to a breakdown in the system. A typical career path for a HVAC technician includes acquiring certification from an industry association such as The National Air Conditioning Contractors Association (NACC). After completing training programs that teach them how to properly diagnose and repair common problems with HVAC systems, technicians often work their way up through positions of increasing responsibility.

What qualifications are required to become a HVAC Technician?
