What is a HVAC Technician?

A HVAC technician is a person who repairs, maintains and installs heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems in homes or businesses. They may also be called upon to make emergency repairs. A typical HVAC technician's education includes an associate degree in hvac technology from a recognized institution of higher learning. Many technicians have certification through the National Board for Air Certification (NBACC).

What qualifications are required to become a HVAC Technician?

1. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

2. Must have a valid CPR certification and be able to pass a criminal background check.

3. Basic understanding of mathematics and physics concepts are important for HVAC technicians because calculations involve these disciplines often times.

4 Abilities in troubleshooting, problem solving, critical thinking, as well as working independently are necessary traits for the position of HVAC technician due to the fact that they typically work on their own with little supervision most of the time (though there may be occasional support from supervisors).

5 Experience repairing various types of equipment such as air conditioning units; condensing units; furnaces etc., would also be beneficial given how frequently repairs will need to occur within an HVAC system
