What qualifications are required to become a HVAC Technician?

1. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

2. Must have a valid certification from the National HVAC Technician Certification Board (NHTCB) in air conditioning and heating technology, refrigeration/HVAC installation, mechanical ventilation or related field(s).

3. Basic math skills are necessary to understand calculations used in the trade; knowledge of physics also beneficial.

4. Strong technical ability and troubleshooting skills with experience working on residential systems is essential for success as a technician; strong problem solving attitude is important too!
