A HVAC technician is a person who specializes in heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC). They work to keep people comfortable by providing the necessary cooling or heat. A typical job duties of a HVAC technician include inspecting systems, diagnosing problems and recommending repairs.
In order to become a HVAC Technician, one must have an associate's degree in heating and air conditioning technology or engineering. A license may also be required depending on the state in which they are working. Other qualifications that may be needed include experience installing, repairing and maintaining heating, cooling and ventilation systems.
- Knowledge of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems
- Ability to read schematics and diagrams
- Experience in installation or repair of HVAC equipment
