What is a HVAC Technician?

A HVAC technician is a person who repairs and maintains heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) systems. They may also be called upon to perform other maintenance tasks on these systems. A HVAC technician typically has a diploma or degree in mechanical engineering or another related field. They must have excellent problem solving skills as well as knowledge of mechanics, electrical circuitry, and plumbing principles. In order to become a certified HVAC technician, they often complete an apprenticeship program that includes rigorous training and experience in the trade.

What qualifications are required to become a HVAC Technician?

A person who wants to become a HVAC Technician must have certification from an accredited trade organization. They will also need two years of experience in the field, and be able to read and write English well. The technician must also be able to work safely while using tools such as ladders and drills

What are the skills required to become a HVAC Technician?

1. Must have mechanical ability and knowledge to repair or maintain HVAC systems.

2. Familiarity with common tools, equipment and procedures used in HVAC installation/repair work.

3. Ability to read schematics and manuals for various types of HVAC equipment in order to diagnose malfunctions or correct problems.

4 Strong problem solving skills; able to identify potential solutions based on observed information and findings from repairs/maintenance tasks completed thus far.

5 Demonstrated experience working within a team environment as part of a larger building project, such as installing new heating & cooling system components etc..
