What is a HVAC Technician?

A HVAC technician installs, maintains and repairs heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems in homes or businesses. They may also be called upon to inspect the system for problems. A HVAC technician must have a valid license from the state in which they work. Some common skills required of a HVAC technician include problem solving, reading schematics and drawings, diagnosis of mechanical issues and troubleshooting procedures.

What qualifications are required to become a HVAC Technician?

A. A high school diploma or equivalent is required

B. Certification from the National Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Association (NACRA) is preferred but not mandatory

C. Experience in HVAC systems installation, repair, or maintenance is a plus

D. Knowledge of standard heating and cooling equipment operation principles is necessary

E. Ability to read blueprints and work confidently under pressure

What are the skills required to become a HVAC Technician?
