What is a Hydraulic Mechanic?

A hydraulic mechanic is a person who works with hydraulics, which are machines that use fluids to move or operate objects. A hydraulic machine can be used in many different ways, including manufacturing and construction. Hydraulic mechanics often work on large projects, such as building dams or bridges. They typically have degrees in engineering or mechanical sciences.

What qualifications are required to become a Hydraulic Mechanic?

1. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

2. Certification through the National Board of Professional Engineers (NBPES) as a hydraulic mechanic is desirable but not essential.

3. Experience in repairing and maintaining hydraulic systems on commercial, industrial and municipal equipment is preferred but not mandatory.

4. Knowledge of basic hydraulics principles and troubleshooting techniques are necessary skills for the position including working knowledge of mechanical engineering concepts such as force, torque, displacement etc..

5 The ability to read schematics fluently and understand blueprints/drawings will be helpful
