What is a Instrument Technician?

An Instrument Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of aircraft instruments. They may work on a single instrument or on an entire panel, depending on the size and complexity of the instrumentation system. Instrument Technicians are usually required to have a college degree in engineering or another technical discipline. They typically must pass rigorous certification tests before being able to work on aircraft equipment.

What qualifications are required to become a Instrument Technician?

A. A high school diploma or equivalent.

B. Some experience with instruments and tools, preferably in a technical setting such as a music store or recording studio.

C. Good communication and problem solving skills, both written and oral- typically needed for troubleshooting instrument issues on the job site or in customer service settings.

D. Knowledge of basic electrical theory- necessary to understand how instruments work mechanically under normal operating conditions; this includes knowledge of voltage levels, current flow etc..

E1 Instrument technician certification is often required by employers
