What is a Instrument Technician?

An instrument technician is a professional who repairs, maintains, and calibrates instruments used in scientific research or industrial production. Instrument technicians may work on small parts of larger machines or they may be responsible for entire laboratories. They are typically educated in engineering disciplines such as physics or mathematics and usually have prior experience working with laboratory equipment. Instrument technicians must be able to read technical manuals and understand complex measurements made using lab equipment

What qualifications are required to become a Instrument Technician?

A college degree in engineering, instrumentation, or a related field is required. Instrument technicians typically have at least 5 years of experience working with instruments and systems. They must be able to read and understand technical manuals and know how to operate various equipment. In addition, they must have excellent problem solving skills and the ability to work independently. Instrument technicians usually need good eyesight because they often work near screens or bright lights
