What is a Instrument Technician?

Instrument technicians are responsible for the maintenance, repair and calibration of instruments used in a variety of scientific disciplines. Instrument technicians may work on equipment used by researchers in labs or hospitals, monitoring devices such as weather balloons or satellites, or measurement tools like seismographs. They often have degrees in engineering science and must be able to read technical manuals and carry out repairs on complicated machines.
