Abu Travel Service is in search of talented and motivated individuals for the post of Marine Engine Mechanic in their office located in UNITED ARAB EMIRATES. They are a HR CONSULTANCY with a team of 11-50 employees working to offer services that ensure the highest standards of quality and perfection.
A Marine engine mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of marine engines. They may also be tasked with troubleshooting and maintaining equipment related to navigation or propulsion systems. In some cases, a Marine engine mechanic may work on both diesel and gasoline engines.
1. A degree in mechanical engineering is generally required, although some states may have lower requirements.
2. Experience as a mechanic is also necessary; many schools offer internships or co-op programs to help students gain the experience they need prior to becoming certified mechanics professionals.
3. Certification from either The National Board for Mechanical Engineering (NBME) or the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) can demonstrate that an individual has met specific qualifications and skills relevant to this profession field.
4. Excellent problem solving abilities are essential, as Marine engine mechanics often must diagnose and solve technical problems onsite while working with engines that are running hot and under pressure – conditions which can be extremely dangerous if not handled correctly!

Employee Duties & Responsibilities 1) Repairs and adjusts electrical mechanical equipment of gasoline- or diesel-powered inboard or inboard-outboard boat engines, using hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing meters. 2) Starts motor and listens to its sound to define causes of trouble. 3) Tests the motor for conformance to manufacturers' specifications, using electrical testing meters. 4) Dismantles motors, using hand tools, and examines parts for defects. 5) Adjusts generator and replaces faulty wiring, using hand tools and soldering iron. 6) Installs piston rings, adjusts carburettor, grinds valves, and repairs or replaces reduction gears, and other parts, using a lathe, drill press, hand tools, and power tools. 7) Examines propeller and propeller shafts and repairs defective parts. 8) Aligns engine to the propeller shaft. 9) May operate a boat on the water to test repairs. 10) May repair only mechanical equipment of engines, like power-tilt, bilge pumps, or power take-offs. 11) May be designated according to the type of engine repaired as Motorboat Mechanic, Inboard ship-boat mfg.; Motorboat Mechanic, Inboard/Outboard ship-boat mfg..
