What is a Mason

A Mason is a member of the Masonic fraternity. Freemasonry focuses on principles such as charity, morality, and brotherhood. Masons are also involved in community service projects.

What qualifications are required to become a Mason

1. Membership in a Masonic Lodge is required for initiation into Freemasonry.

2. Being initiated as a Mason requires the applicant to be of good moral character and have understanding of basic principles of Freemasonry such as brotherly love, justice, and charity.

3. As members advance through the degrees, they are expected to demonstrate proficiency in Masonic ceremonies and teachings pertaining to their degree level.

4 . Masons must also meet certain physical qualifications including being able to speak English fluently with no accent, having at least one foot measuring 6 feet or more in height (measured from floor), and wearing appropriate clothing that bears the identifying marks associated with Masonry (such as an aproned waistcoat).

5 . Finally, all Masons undergo a formal examination by Master Masons known as “The Third Degree” which determines whether or not an individual is ready for further advancement within Freemasonry
