What is a Mason

A Mason is someone who has been initiated into a secret society called Freemasonry. Masons are divided into three classes based on their level of knowledge and experience: Entered Apprentice, Fellowcraft, and Master Mason. Each class represents a stage in an individual's journey to becoming a perfect man. As members progress through the degrees, they learn about morality, religion, government, law, and philosophy.

What qualifications are required to become a Mason

1. Must be at least 18 years of age

2. A male must have had a Masonic affiliation for two months and a female must have had an association with Masonry for one month before being eligible to join

3. Candidates are asked about their beliefs in God, morality, education, and honorable character

4. Persons who profess Christ as their personal savior are not eligible to become Masons due to the prohibition against religious tests in the organization

5. Active membership is open only to men who reside within 50 miles of where a Lodge meets

What are the skills required to become a Mason

1. Ability to read and follow a set of written instructions

2. Resolve conflicts through dialogue, not violence or intimidation

3. Have the integrity to live by Masonic values and principles even when faced with adversity
