What is a Mason

1. A Mason (General) is a male who has been initiated into the Masonic order and is therefore eligible to receive instruction in Freemasonry.

2. Masons are part of an international brotherhood that traces its origins back to ancient Egypt and Greece.

3. The three main degrees of Freemasonry are Entered Apprentice, Fellowcraft, and Master Mason respectively, each representing a stage in a man's progress toward becoming an accomplished member of society.

4. As members of the fraternity undergo further education and experience they may be elevated to positions such as Royal Arch Mason or Grand Commander Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite Free&Accepted Masons depending on their level of proficiency within the order

What qualifications are required to become a Mason

1. A man should be of good moral character

2. He must be a member in good standing of his local Masonic lodge

3. He must have been initiated into the degree of Entered Apprentice, and passed through all the degrees upon which Masons are divided, viz., Fellowcraft, Master Mason, and finally Grand Master or Sovereign Architect
