What is a Mason

A Mason is a member of the Fraternity or Order of Freemasons. The basic principles and ideals that bind Masons together are faith, charity, obedience to laws and order, and brotherly love. Masonic ceremonies represent these principles in an allegorical form. A Mason learns how to live by these precepts through participation in ritual events and learning experiences.

What qualifications are required to become a Mason

1. Must be 18 years of age or older

2. A citizen of the United States

3. Able to read, write and speak English fluently

4. Possess a good moral character

5. Be a member in good standing with one of the recognized Masonic organizations

What are the skills required to become a Mason

1. The ability to read and understand symbols

2. Knowledge of the history, principles and practices of Freemasonry
