What is a Mason

A Mason (General) is a member of the Masonic Order who has completed the degree work of Freemasonry. A Mason (General) may also be known as a distinguished brother, honorary master, or senior warden.

What qualifications are required to become a Mason

1. To become a Mason, someone must be at least 18 years old and have been accepted into the fraternity by passing one of its many Masonic examinations.

2. Most Masons are male, but there is also a female counterpart called the initiate Sisterhood of Freemasonry (ISOF).

3. A Mason's rank depends on his level in the order; basic mason is typically just one degree above Entered Apprentice/Neophyte and further degrees denote increasing levels of experience and authority within Freemasonry.

4. Each state has its own laws governing who can become a Mason; in general, only men who meet certain qualifications may join up and even then some states require additional requirements such as being honorable or having good character references from respectable citizens before granting membership status to prospective Masons.

5 .Masonic rites vary from country to country but generally involve secret handshakes, passwords, religious invocations & ceremonies performed inside an elaborate temple setting with steep staircases & intricate carvings
