What is a Medical Gas Technician?

A Medical Gas Technician is a person who installs, maintains and repairs medical gas equipment. They may also be responsible for training other technicians in the use of medical gases.

What qualifications are required to become a Medical Gas Technician?

1. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

2. Experience in the medical industry is preferred, but not mandatory.

3. Good communication and problem solving skills are important, as technicians work with a variety of patients and doctors simultaneously.

4. Certification from an accredited technical training program may be required for some positions; this varies by state/province and employer requirements vary greatly across Canada too so do your research!

5 . Sometimes experience working with computers is beneficial – especially if you want to pursue a career in Medical Gas Techs using electronic health records (EHR).
