What is a Pump Mechanic?

A pump mechanic is someone who repairs, maintains and operates pumps. They often work in factories or processing plants where large volumes of fluids are handled on a regular basis. Pump mechanics need to have strong mechanical skills as well as knowledge about how these machines function. They must also be able to read and understand diagrams and schematics related to pumps.

What qualifications are required to become a Pump Mechanic?

1. Valid driver's license and proof of insurance

2. Good mechanical aptitude and experience in machinery repairs or maintenance

3. Must have knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, electrical wiring diagrams etc

4. Ability to read and understand blueprints or other schematics related to pumps, engines or machine tools

5. Experience working with computers

What are the skills required to become a Pump Mechanic?

1. Knowledge of pump operation and mechanics

2. Working experience in a pumping station or maintenance department
