A QA/QC instrument engineer is responsible for the quality assurance and quality control of instruments used in research, development, manufacturing or testing. They may also be involved in developing methods to improve the accuracy, reliability and performance of these instruments. Instrument engineers typically work with scientists from a variety of disciplines to ensure that their equipment meets rigorous scientific standards. They must have knowledge of engineering principles as well as laboratory techniques and procedures related to instrumentation manufacture. Additionally, they are likely familiar with software programs used for data analysis and serial communication protocols necessary for transporting measurement results between components within an instrument system.
A QA/QC INSTRUMENT ENGINEER must have a degree in instrument engineering from an accredited college or university. They should also be able to demonstrate experience in testing and quality assurance procedures, as well as knowledge of automated test equipment. Additionally, they should have strong problem solving skills and excellent communication abilities.
- Strong problem solving skills, ability to think outside the box.
- Experience with testing tools and methodologies (e.g., TDD, BDD).
- Knowledge of software development process and toolchains.
- Familiarity with source code inspection techniques (e.g., syntax checking, line number analysis).
