What is a Ramp Agent - Aviation?

A Ramp Agent is a person who assists aircraft in or out of airports by providing assistance with boarding and deplaning.

What qualifications are required to become a Ramp Agent - Aviation?

1.A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required to become a Ramp Agent - Aviation.

2. Ramp Agents must be physically fit and able to work long hours in an environment that can be hot, humid, and noisy.

3. Ramp Agents need good problem solving skills as they will often have to resolve issues with pilots and other airport personnel on the ramp.

4. Previous experience working at an airport would be beneficial, but not mandatory for applicants; training provided by the FAA will cover most of what needs to be known about being a Ramp Agent - Aviation..

5 . Minimum qualifications also include excellent communication skills as agents are responsible for relaying information between passengers arriving into the USA from overseas airports (known as " Customs & Immigration") and customs officials who may inspect their luggage etc
