What is a Store Manager?

A store manager is responsible for the overall running of a retail establishment. They are in charge of hiring and firing employees, disciplining them if necessary, setting prices and making sure that merchandise is available to customers.

What qualifications are required to become a Store Manager?

1. Minimum of two years experience as a salesperson in a retail setting is required for management positions.

2. Excellent customer service skills are necessary to be successful as a manager, and must be able to deal with difficult customers on an ongoing basis.

3. Knowledge of merchandising principles and techniques is essential, as well as the ability to make sound strategic decisions based on data collected from analytics programs or surveys conducted by store managers themselves.
