What is a AC Technician?

A AC Technician is a person who specializes in repairing and maintaining air conditioning systems. They will identify the problem, determine its severity, and provide recommendations on how to fix it.

What qualifications are required to become a AC Technician?

A. A high school diploma or equivalent is required

B. Certification in air conditioning and ventilation from an accredited program is recommended

C. Several years' experience installing, repairing, maintaining and troubleshooting AC systems is desired

D. Excellent problem solving skills are a must as AC technicians work with various electrical components and systems throughout the home

E. Comprehensive knowledge of residential HVAC system design principles along with certifications such as AFM/HSPF would be beneficial
