A qualified automobile electrician installs, repairs and maintains electrical systems in automobiles. They also may work on other types of vehicles that have electrical systems, such as motorcycles or boats. Automobile electricians are typically certified by the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA).
1. A minimum of an associate's degree in automotive engineering or a related technical field is required to become a automobile electrician.
2. Certification as an Automobile Electrician by the National Electrical Code (NEC) Board is also necessary prior to employment in this profession.
3. Knowledge and experience with various types of automobiles, including electrical systems, are essential for success as an auto electrician.
4.. Experience working on large commercial projects would be beneficial before attempting work on smaller vehicles or residential installations.
5.. Good problem solving abilities and attention to detail are critical qualities for any automobile electrician
