A graphic designer is a professional who creates designs for print, digital media and other visual communications. A graphic designer may specialize in one type of design or may work across multiple types of design projects. Graphic designers typically have an undergraduate degree in art or graphics, as well as experience working with computers and typography. They often also possess knowledge about printing processes and the layout arts.
1. A degree in graphic design is required, but not always necessary. Some entry-level positions may require only experience or a portfolio of work.
2. Graphic designers need to have strong typographic skills and the ability to create beautiful layouts using both Photoshop and InDesign software programs. They also need proficiency with marketing tools like social media platforms and email campaigns, as well as knowledge about branding principles and consumer trends.
3. Many graphic designers are self-taught; however, some employers will prefer candidates who have had prior professional experience working in this field OR a degree from an accredited school of design .
