What is a CNC Operator?

A CNC operator is a machine tool operator who uses computers to control the cutting process on specialized machines. They are responsible for producing complex parts using accurate and repeatable movements.

What qualifications are required to become a CNC Operator?

1. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

2. Experience in operating a CNC machine is preferred, but not necessary.

3. Knowledge of basic geometry and trigonometry are helpful skills for the position, as well as experience with CAD software programs such as SolidWorks or Inventor .

4. Familiarity with metalworking tools and practices (chisels, hammers etc.) is also beneficial; many CNC machines use these tools to create parts from metal stockings or plates).

5. Technical expertise in one or more computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) programs can be advantageous – most modern CNC machines require programming instructions to properly operate them
