What is a Mason

A Mason (General) is a member of the Masonic fraternity. He or she represents Masons in their dealings with other fraternities and organizations, assists new members in adjusting to membership obligations, and serves as an advisor to District Grand Masters on matters pertaining to Freemasonry.

What qualifications are required to become a Mason

1) A Mason must be at least 18 years old.

2) He must have been a member of the same church for two months and express an interest in joining the Masonic order.

3) He should demonstrate good character and intelligence by passing a difficult test.

4) He may not be married nor have any children under 12 years old when he becomes a Mason. (Masons are allowed to marry after they become members of another degree.)

5) Freemasonry requires that Masons abide by its laws, which include secrecy about their activities

What are the skills required to become a Mason

1. Knowledge of the history, symbolism and practices of Masonry.

2. Ability to read and interpret Masonic rituals and ceremonies.

3. Good communication skills - for both Lodge meetings and online discussions about Freemasonry.
