A Accounts Assistant is a position in which an individual assists the Accounting Manager with various tasks such as preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts and tracking spending.
A person who wants to become an Accounts Assistant should have excellent numeracy and literacy skills, as well as the ability to work independently. They also need good organizational abilities and attention to detail.
The skills needed to become an Accounts Assistant include excellent problem solving, attention to detail, strong communication and organizational skills. Additionally, the individual should have experience working in a accounting office or be familiar with software such as QuickBooks.

To receive invoices, expense claims, contracts, and related documentation, check for accuracy and alignment with contractual terms or approvals. Match invoices with goods received notes, purchase orders, and purchase requisitions. Proper control in Input and output VAT and making necessary adjustment entries for filing To prepare the detail of invoices and payment vouchers for inventory suppliers and after approval from the managing director to prepare cheques. To prepare payment vouchers and cheques for other payments including rent, utilities, and other services provided by suppliers. Make sure all the accounts are closed every month. Process payroll on a monthly basis and check for accuracy before transmittal to payroll service(WPS) Prepare and monitor cash and bank position for day-to-day requirements. Preparation of bank reconciliation on a weekly basis and suppliers account reconciliation on a monthly basis and take prompt action for the differences arising. To visit the branches for monthly stock taking and updating inventory in Peach tree. To maintain and update fixed assets register. Other duties assigned from time to time based on requirements by seniors.
