What qualifications are required to become a Automobile Electrician?

1. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

2. Previous experience in automotive repair and wiring is recommended, but not necessary.

3. Basic knowledge of electrical systems and tools is helpful, but not mandatory for the certification exam(s).

4. The Automobile Electrician Certification Board (AECB) requires a passing score on the National Electrical Code® Examination 70-512E: Wiring Systems – Commercial Vehicles to become certified; other certifications may have different requirements - check with your local industry association before taking any testing!
