What is a Staff Nurse?

A Staff Nurse is a nurse who oversees the care of patients in their own room or in an area designated for nursing staff only. They are responsible for providing basic health services, such as wound management and administering medication.

What qualifications are required to become a Staff Nurse?

1. Experience as a nurse in an acute care or long-term care facility.

2. Current licensure to practice nursing in the state where you wish to work

3. Registered nurse (RN) certification from the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).

4. Two years experience working with patients who have chronic diseases, injuries, or both

5. Knowledgeable about medical procedures and treatments for chronically ill patients
