1. Research event managers in the area you are interested in and contact those who have successfully organized events similar to what you would like your event to be. Look for references if need be.2. If possible, attend an event that has been organized by a manager you’ve interviewed or researched before so that you can get a sense of their style and how they operate on-site.3. Interview potential candidates at least twice – once over the phone (ideally with some questions prepared beforehand) and again face-to-face if possible4.. Be clear about what type of experience/qualifications are desired from an Event Manager5.. Make sure all hiring decisions are based off empirical data - when making offers pay attention to qualifications as well as past performance
or less.
There are a few things to consider when looking for an event manager from overseas:
1. Language barrier- Many people who work as event managers come from countries with English as their native language, so they will be able to communicate well with sponsors and participants. However, if you need someone who can speak another language fluently, it might be helpful to look into hiring a translator for the events.
2. Cultural differences- Not all cultures are the same, which means that some of the customs or traditions involved in certain regions may not mesh well with Americanized ways of doing things like booking speakers or organizing exhibitions/demonstrations. If you're unsure about how something should be done and your potential event manager is from out of town/country, it's always best to ask first!
3. Availability- Some foreign nationals have visas that allow them stay in the US for up to six months at a time; others only have temporary visa status that allows them stay here for specific periods of time (usually three months). It's important to know ahead of time how long your potential hire can commit themselves physically and emotionally before having any issues arise during an engagement period (eccentricity fees? missed flights?). Once those factors are taken into account together with budgetary constraints then narrowing down candidates becomes much easier!
